Somerset eco-coffins are suitable for cremations and burials. All our coffins are made from recycled wood and are manufactured at our base in Weston-super-Mare by our highly skilled workshop team to meet industry standards.
The best choice for the environment
Nearly all lower cost coffins bought in the UK are made from laminate chipboard or MDF and contain large amounts of chemicals and plastics. They are also largely imported from Eastern Europe and China, so the carbon footprint to get them to the UK is large.
The carbon footprint of Somerset eco-coffins is minimal. Our raw material is clean re-purposed wood that has been diverted? from the waste stream here in Somerset. As we use reclaimed wood the coffins themselves are not the cause of any resource exploitation – or, to put it more simply, no trees are cut down to make Somerset eco-coffins!
We don’t use any varnishes or finishes on our coffins that will contaminate the soil or pollute the air if burnt.
The raw materials
All the wood we use is sanded for an attractive final finish. To ensure our coffins can do the job they need to do we use new FSC or reclaimed plywood for our base panels. Somerset Eco-coffins are made to be extremely robust and sturdy.

Things to think about when ordering
a Somerset eco-coffin
Somerset eco-coffins come in 3 standard sizes:
Small – for adults up to 5 ft 8”
Medium – for adults up to 6 ft 1”
Large – for adults up to 6 ft 4”
We need one week’s notice to get a coffin ready. We can make coffins to bespoke sizes but normally need a little longer to make them.
No hidden costs
Funerals can be stressful to organise and we understand that the last thing you need is to hit by hidden costs. All our standard coffins are £490. Delivery is available. Just let us know where you want the coffin to be and we’ll tell you the cost.
